Hey, I´d recommend a so called box-type Polaroid camera, pretty much any model is fine, the better models are the 660 and the 670 AF because they have autofocus. But other models like the 636 Close Up are fine too. Those cameras can be found on eBay for cheap and you should not pay more than 30 with shipping (less can be accomplished, i´ve recently paid 11). The chance that those camera´s are not working is slim, so it is, in my opinion, okay to buy an untested one. Depending on where you live you should check Craigslist or similar sites. Those camera´s are fun and also really easy to handle. You should find manuals on the net for them too.

For film it´s easy, get the PX-680 Color Protection from the Impossible Project. It is their latest film. Long development times, but easy to handle and awesome colors.
